Why “Change of Heart”
At present there are many challenges for us to change the way we are
doing things. Most of us have a vision of what we could do differently.
Also we know that most of the intellectual (design) requirements to
effect this change are available should we look. Likewise there is no
lack of confidence in ‘doing’ things once we have the plan in front of
us. So what’s the hold up? Our understanding is that it is in engaging
on a heartfelt emotional level that truly engages us in change - that
what is required is a ‘change of heart’
For those who relate better to diagrams, check out the medicine wheel below.
Lots
of cultures have used medicine wheels to understand some of the
‘patterns’ in their life. There are lots of different ones. I call this
one the ‘four seasons’ medicine wheel. I’m not sure where I picked this
one up, however it is similar to Celtic and Cherokee medicine wheels.
In any project or process we frequently find ourselves in a journey around these 4 quadrants. Tempting as it maybe to jump from Vision (Quadrant One) to either Thoughts/Design (Quadrant Three) or to Action (Quadrant Four) successful integration and expression of our Vision requires us to first engage appropriately in Quadrant Two - A Change of Heart.
